About

I’m way too interested in far too many things. But Chinese and Korean dramas have been one of my steadfast obsessions for years, so I thought it deserved its own home.

I’ve been watching Chinese dramas before they were a glimmer in an international fan’s eye. Okay, to be precise, I’ve been watching it since the 1980s. The drama in question? Journey to the West (1986). As a Chinese person growing up in Malaysia, South-East Asia, Chinese folktales was just a part of my childhood, watching in TV form was a treat!

Back then, I lived near Singapore and Chinese dramas were often aired. But then I moved to Kuala Lumpur, I could only rely on Malaysian public television channels for Chinese dramas and they were few and far between.

Over the years, I even resorted to buying DVD sets when I made rare visits to China. My Mandarin is mid at best, and watching these dramas without subtitles was an adventure in itself.

But now, in the streaming era, armed with subscriptions to various CDrama platforms – Youku, iQiyi, and even Netflix – I’m swimming in CDramas! I took notes of the dramas to remember them and would occasionally share my thoughts on social media.

And then it occurred to me, especially after Twitter famously melted down end of 2022: Hey, why am I throwing my thoughts out on social media only for them to one day disappear on me?

And so this blog was born – as a way to capture my thoughts, keep it forever, and share them with you, Internet traveller!

You can follow my blog via RSS or subscribe to the blog below. You can receive emails each time I update the blog.

I have also started a podcast, but it’s still in its infant, experimental stage. So, stay tuned.
